Project Description

TAPA – Transported Asset Protection Association

TAPA’s mission is to minimize cargo losses from the supply chain. This is achieved by the development and application of global security standards FSR (Facility Security Requirement) and TSR (Trucking Security Requirement) for companies involved in the transportation, storage, and handling of cargo. The two requirements work in conjunction to secure the storage and transportation of high-value assets.

FSR – Facility Security Requirement

FSR is the official TAPA standard for secure warehousing and storage. It is a common global standard that can be used in business or security agreements between buyers and logistic service providers seeking certification.

FSR Scope

FSR may apply to the following:

  • Any or all storage locations within the global supply chain, depending on risk and/or buyer or logistics service provider
  • LSP/Applicant owned or operated facilities
  • Buyer-owned or operated facilities

TSR – Trucking Security Requirements

TSR is the official TAPA standard for secure trucking services. It is a common global standard that can be used in business or security agreements between buyers and logistic service providers seeking certification.

TSR Scope

TSR may apply to the following:

  • All cargo required to be transported in accordance with the TAPA TSR
  • Leased or owned trucks
  • LSP/Applicant operated or subcontracted trucks
  • All types of truck designs

Benefits

  • Improved protection of high-value goods
  • Systematic reduction of liability risks and security threats
  • Awareness building of possible threats
  • Effective, focused security based on a systematic, risk-based approach.
  • Strengthen customer confidence through transparency
  • Potential for synergies with ISO standards and EU GDP

Audit & Certification Cycle

Normally, after an Initial Audit and closure of NCs, a TAPA certification of 3-year validity will be issued. Annual self-audits are required until re-certifying in the third year. TAPA can ask to view the results of the self-audits.
